Membership Categories & Fees

There are different categories of membership of the LEEA depending on the business activities of the company.

The different categories are listed below, along with their annual subscriptions.

For further information, to find out which category would apply to your company, or for any other membership enquires, please Contact Us.

Joining and Audit process

Every company that wishes to join the LEEA will be required to undergo a safety and standards audit. To be eligible for full membership, you must meet the required standards for full membership. The process for joining is as follows:

  1. Complete the online form to receive your application pack.
  2. Return your completed application form to us.
  3. If you are eligible to join, we’ll arrange to carry out an initial audit of your organisation for the LEEA Board.
  4. The LEEA Board will decide if you meet our stringent standards and qualify for Membership immediately, or if you need to take any action before your Full Membership is granted.
  5. Once accepted, your Membership will start on the date we receive your Membership fees (audit fees are paid in advance).
  6. Applicants for the user category of Associate Membership are not audited but must undertake an initial technical meeting.

Membership categories of the LEEA

Full Member

To become a Full Member, you must be a profit-making organisation involved in the testing and examination of lifting equipment.

Development Member

A new applicant will be granted Development Membership if you are a profit-making organisation involved in the testing and examination of lifting equipment but do not meet the full technical requirements for Full Membership. A development plan will be drawn up and you are expected to qualify as a Full Member within two years.

From January 2010, companies who were existing Overseas Associate Members and not yet been audited for Full Membership, were reclassified as Provisional Members. Once the audit is complete, they will be reclassified as Development Members if they meet the necessary requirements.  Companies based outside the UK may also be accepted as provisional members while arrangements are made for the audit to be conducted
